While the most popular games issued by Avalon Hill / Sports Illustrated were the STATIS PRO series and the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED BASEBALL / SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOOTBALL Games in their various incarnations the company put out a large variety of other sports-themed games. HANDICAP GOLF (later re-titled GO FOR THE GREEN) was part of the initial triad with BASEBALL and FOOTBALL but was never quite as popular. The well-received Avalon Hill BASEBALL STRATEGY, FOOTBALL STRATEGY and BASKETBALL STRATEGY games were a mainstay of the catalogue for years. Then there was the solid statistical replay game PRO GOLF, a unique NCAA BASKETBALL GAME - MARCH MADNESS and the comical hockey game SLAPSHOT (no doubt inspired by the movie).
Another part of the Avalon Hill catalogue was the games that were initially created by the 3M company. The 3M game line featured solid game play and high quality components. They are truly a joy to play. When Avalon Hill bought the rights to the 3M line the BLUE LINE HOCKEY and BIG LEAGUE BASEBALL games were allowed to go out of print but they did repackage a couple games ( THINKING MAN'S FOOTBALL and THINKING MAN'S GOLF ) and continued to produce the racing games WIN PLACE AND SHOW, SPEED CIRCUIT and REGATTA into the 1980's. I have heard that 3M actually did create a BASKETBALL game but it was never released.
The games below are organized alphabetically by sport.
For
games that have different editions you will find that all the different
versions are grouped together. There are a few titles /
editions
that have been left out simply because I have not yet acquired them.
I think you will find that the list is basically complete
though.....
Just click on the game title(s) below the pictures to see details about
that particular edition of the game and for info on how to make a
purchase.
