Cast Iron Kicker from Football Game
This game was similar in
concept to the later Super
Jock Football game. You line up the kicker at different points along a
yardage marker and try to kick the ball through the various cut-outs in
a cardboard backdrop. The kicker alone is very sought after as these
old cast-iron mechanical toys are highly collectible. It is rare to
find it with the ball and even scarcer with all the game components.
This listing is for just
the kicker and the ball. I don't have any of the other game parts. The
kicker is GOOD condition. He has some typical paint-loss but is
mechanically sound. When you cock his kicking leg it locks into place
and is released when you depress the trigger mechanism. The leg does
not swing with much force so the ball does not go far. Perhaps he just
needs some oil but it could be a weak spring. I would grade it a 3-4 on
a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
I am not sure if the ball is original to the game
but it is the correct size. It is made of hard rubber and other than
some typical scuffing from game play it's in good shape.
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
